Research finds: a more accessible CMS performs better in SEO

20% of the people using the internet live with a disability. To make sure people with disabilities can use your website, you'll need to make sure it is accessible.

Governments have also realized the importance of good accessibility: the EU has launched the The European Accessibility Act (EAA) which needs to result in more accessible online services.

About 80% of all websites use one of the top 12 content management systems, like Wordpress, Wix or Drupal. The Dutch Accessibility Desk researched how these CMS's perform on accessibility for disabled users. Additionally, they looked at the SEO performance of those websites.

They found that the following CMSes score highest on accessibility standards:

  • Wix
  • Squarespace
  • Webflow
